Panther Pete’s Science Lab
All of our New Prospect students will benefit from our new Science Lab which is run by parent volunteers. Students will participate in “hands-on”, “minds-on” activities and explore ways to explain that science is all around us.
Meet the Masters
Meet the Masters is an art education program designed to introduce 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to the masters of art. Each month students will learn about one famous artist and do a short art project associated with that person. Some of the children will have heard about some of the artists, but for most of them, this will be their first introduction to some of the most famous names in art history.
This is a monthly program that runs from October through May. Once a month, a volunteer visits the class for 30-40 minutes to give a short presentation about the artist (using materials and information provided) and to lead the children in a short art project. You do not have to be an “expert” in art history to volunteer; you don’t even need to be familiar with the artists!! The folders provided have all the information you will need for your 15-minute presentation and short project; craft supplies are also provided.
This volunteer opportunity requires very little time and offers a chance to work with your child’s entire class introducing great new material. We would like to have at least three volunteers from each class, and more are welcome.
