A Letter from our PTA Co-Presidents

Whew! What a busy first semester New Prospect had! It is true that it takes a village to raise a child and it definitely takes a village to get all of New Prospect’s activities done to such a successful degree. A sincere thank you goes out to all of the volunteers for all of their hard work to make the fall semester run so smoothly. Our annual Snowflakes n’ Hotcakes family event, including the beautiful theme baskets, was great fun once again!

The chorus sang their hearts out while over 700 students, families, teachers and staff enjoyed their pancake breakfasts. We also had over 300 moms, dads and kids attend our Donuts with Dad and Muffins with Mom events. It was wonderful to see so many of our parents so early in the morning. The children enjoyed Red Ribbon Week, The Peachtree Brass cultural arts program, Reflections, Meet the Masters and the media center’s Book Fair that our PTA volunteers staffed!

Our business alliance family nights have also been quite successful and well attended. We added a few new family nights this year. About 100 students attended our first NPES Chuck E. Cheese night and don’t forget our Election Day event at Stars and Strikes. We hope our faculty and staff enjoyed the fall luncheon in their honor and are looking forward to their big week of appreciation coming up in February.

One of the highlights from the fall semester was when the 5th grade promethean boards were finally installed. Third grade also got a huge surprise when Mrs. Schnibbe’s husband’s company donated 3 boards for their classrooms. The children and teachers really enjoy having them in their classrooms.

Spring semester promises to be just as busy and exciting as the Fall. Bingo Night will be held on Thursday, March 12th. The production of Rewind will be held on Friday, February 27th and Saturday, February 28th. We also have more cultural arts programs, additional family events at Stars and Strikes and Chick-Fil-A, the Spring Teacher Appreciation luncheon and we wrap up the year with the 5th Grade Farewell. Spring semester also means we must start looking forward to next year as well.

If you would like to become more involved in the PTA, please contact us or one of our other board members. There are great opportunities to fit all schedules, backgrounds and needs. Keep checking this website and look for flyers and monthly calendars that will detail all future events for the remainder of the year. As always, feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns or comments.

Enjoy the remainder of the 2008-2009 school year! Sincerely, Rhonda Agnew & Karen Kirby PTA Co-Presidents
